I believe leadership is shaped by the experiences we gather, the people we meet, the responsibilities we accept, and the lessons we learn along the way. My own journey has taken me through entrepreneurship, community service, philanthropy, leadership, and service within the County Government of Narok. Each chapter has given me a different perspective on what it means to serve people and take responsibility.
My experiences have brought me closer to families, women, young people, community groups, professionals, entrepreneurs, and many others who contribute to the life of Narok. Through these interactions, I have listened to people speak about their hopes, challenges, opportunities, and concerns. I have also learned that people do not always need someone to speak for them; often, they need someone willing to listen, understand, and work with them.
Listening, Learning and Serving
I approach leadership as a responsibility rather than simply a position. To me, responsible leadership begins with listening. It means taking time to understand different perspectives before making decisions and recognizing that communities have knowledge and experiences that should inform the way we approach their challenges.
My human side is an important part of how I relate to people. I care about the circumstances that individuals and families face, and I believe compassion should have a place in public leadership. At the same time, compassion must be accompanied by courage, integrity, discipline, and the willingness to do the work.
My journey has taught me that meaningful service requires dedication. There will always be difficult responsibilities, competing priorities, and moments that demand patience. I believe in staying committed to the work, remaining accountable, and continuing to engage with people even when the answers are not simple.
Looking Ahead
As I pursue the governorship of Narok County in 2027, I bring with me the experiences, relationships, lessons, and values that have shaped my journey. I want to continue listening, learning, uniting, serving, and doing the work with humility and purpose.
For me, leadership is ultimately about people. It is about understanding where we are, appreciating where we want to go, and being prepared to walk that journey together.
